CAA, ZA AND GOVT U18/U20 CHAMPIONSHIP HOST DEAL SEALED

The Confederation of African Athletics -CAA- has signed a memorandum of understanding -MOU- with the Zambian government through the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts for the hosting of the 2023 Under 18 and under 20 African Athletics Championship.

Zambia is from 19th April to 3rd May 2023 hosting the second edition of the under 18/20 African Athletics Championships at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

 

The MOU is also aimed at strengthening the relationship between Zambia Athletics in developing athletics and for the hosting of the Championship.

Zambia Athletics president Elias Mpondela has thanked -CAA- for giving Zambia Athletics -ZA- an opportunity to host such an event and for the support given to the association as seen by the MOU signing.

Minister of sports Elvis Nkandu in a speech read on his behalf by Minister of Small and medium enterprises Elias Mubanga says Zambia is committed to ensuring the combined competition is a success.

He has revealed that the organising committees for the competition will be announced before the end of December 2023.

And -CAA- president Malboum Kalkaba is happy with Zambia's athletics development and has expressed gratitude to Zambia for accepting to host -CAA- junior African Championships.

Kalkaba says this will be a good opportunity for Zambia to Identify talent within the country.

Permanent Secretary sport Kangwa Chileshe says the MOU will lay a foundation in enhanced collaboration in the preparation and successful hosting of the competition.
