Confederation of African Athletics announced best athletes of the year.
World 100m hurdles champion and WR holder Tobi Amusan of Nigeria was named as the best female athlete ahead of Kenya’s World 1500m champion Faith Kipyegon and World 10,000m champion Letesenbet Gidey from Ethiopia.
Morocco’s World steeple champion Soufiane El Bakkali got the male award, over Kenyans, marathon WR holder Eliud Kipchoge and World 800m champion Emmanuel Korir.
World U20 champions Faith Cherotich of Kenya (3000m steeplechase) and Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo (100m) were named as most prospect athletes.
Tebogo’s coach Kebonemodisa Dose Mosimanyane is the best coach of the year and Khemraj Naiko from Mauritius the best technical official.
