Lagos hosts the African senior championships

It is finally Lagos (Nigeria) which will host the 22nd edition of the African senior championships from June 23 to 27, 2021. The decision was announced by the president of the CAA, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, after a meeting in Cairo (Egypt) with the Nigerian Minister of Sports Sunday Dare on the sidelines of the ANOCA Conference. 

 

Thus, Nigeria is hosting the competition for the second time in a row (Asaba in 2018), after the defection of Algeria which requested the postponement to a later date, due to the health situation linked to the Covid pandemic. 19 and following “the recommendations” of the Algerian scientific committee for monitoring the evolution of the pandemic. 

The Lagos meeting offers a good opportunity for athletes looking for minimums for the Tokyo Olympics.
