Africa received in great pomp by the IOC President

Mustapha Berraf, President of ANOCA and IOC Member and Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, President of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon (CNOSC), President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) and President of the Association of African Olympic Sports Confederations (CASOL) received, on 7 January 2025 in Lausanne, an extremely warm welcome by Dr Thomas Bach, President of the IOC.

 

A working session of almost one hour and thirty minutes (1h30) followed the moment of civility in the Office of the IOC President in the presence of the Director of Sports and the Director of Olympic Solidarity. At the conclusion of this fruitful working session, President Thomas Bach decided to give his full support to CASOL and to work to ensure that the African Games qualify for the Olympic Games, starting with the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

To this end, a series of consultations will begin in February 2025 between the main stakeholders in the process. Qualification through the Continental Games will also extend to other continents: Europe, Asia, America, Oceania. In short, it was a historic meeting between the main leaders of the African Olympic Movement and the President of the World Olympic Movement.
