The former Senegalese athlete, Kène Ndoye, triple jump and long jump specialist, died on Tuesday February 14, 2023 in Dakar, at the age of 44 following a long illness. Kène NDOYE (15m 00) is the holder of the second best African performance in Triple jump behind Cameroonian Françoise Mbango (15m39). Both were residents of the CIAD (former HPTC) in Dakar.
It was at the African Championships organized in 1998 in Dakar that Kène Ndoye revealed herself to the public by winning twice (a silver medal in long jump and a bronze in triple jump). Twice African champion in the triple jump at the African Championships in 2000 in Algeria and 2004 (Brazzaville), she also won a bronze medal in triple jump in 2003 at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham ( England).
Kène Ndoye finished sixth at the Athens 2004 Olympics and the same place in triple jump at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris and the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
She won the gold medal in triple jump at the 10th African Athletics Championships in Yaoundé in 1996. She finished third in the following edition (1998) in Dakar and at the 1999 African Games in Johannesburg (South Africa).
Silver medalist in the long jump at the African Championships in Tunis in 2002, then first in the triple jump at the African Games in Abuja (Nigeria) in 2003, Kène Ndoye made the beautiful days of Senegalese athletics, especially female athletics.
It was at the African Games in Maputo in 2011 that she participated in her last international competition, finishing second in triple jump.
