Looking ahead to a season of major events

The countdown to the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 recently passed the 50 days to go milestone. With the outdoor season in full swing, the world's best athletes are preparing to go head-to-head at Eugene's Hayward Field from 15-24 July.

But there are many other international track and field championships before and after the sport's showpiece event, including: the Oceania Championships in Mackay, Australia, from 7-11 June; the African Championships in St Pierre, Mauritius, from 8-12 June; and the Mediterranean Games in Oran, Algeria, from 1-4 July. Soon after the World Championships in Oregon, it will then be the turn of the leading teenage athletes to compete for top honours at the World Athletics U20 Championships Cali 22 from 1-6 August. The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK, will be held that same week, from 2-7 August, and will be closely followed by the European Championships in Munich, Germany, from 15-21 August and the NACAC Championships in Nassau, The Bahamas, from 19-21 August.
