Track Athlete of the Year 2024: Four Africans in the race

As part of the World Athletics Awards 2024, World Athletics is pleased to confirm the nominees for Women’s Track Athlete of the Year and Men’s Track Athlete of the Year.

Four Africans are in the race for these titles. They are Beatrice Chebet from Kenya (Four Olympic champion 5000m and 10,000m, world record holder for 10,000m); Faith Kipyegon from Kenya (Olympic champion in the 1500m and world record holder in the 1500m): Letsile Tebogo from Botswana (Olympic champion in the 200m and world best performer in the 200m); Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya (Olympic 800m champion and winner of the Diamond League).
