Mauritius, the venue for the 22nd African Championships

The 22nd CAA African Athletics Championships shall take place from 08 to 12 June 2022 at Côte D’Or National Sports Complex (Mauritius)

There are 45 events on the program: 22 for Men and 22 for women and one mixed event. A 10 Km Trail Race for both men and women.

Minutes of the 29th CAA (Virtual) Congress

The Confederation of African Athletics held its 29th ordinary (virtual) Congress via ZOOM on Tuesday 28th September 2021, under the chairmanship of the CAA president Mr Hamad Kalkaba MALBOUM,  Mr Sébastian COE, president of WA,  WA Directors and Congress delegates.

Athlete of the year: Three Africans in the race

Faith Kipyegon (Women), Joshua Cheptegei and Eliud Kipchoge (Men) are the only Africans selected among the 20 nominees (ten men and ten women) for the trophy of the best athlete of the year.

Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon is the continent’s only athlete for the election. She is Olympic champion in the 1500m. On the men's side, the Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei, gold medalist in the 5,000m and silver in the 10,000m at the 2020 Olympics and Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge, crowned in Tokyo, carry Africa’s hopes.

AADC ABIDJAN: PROTOCOL AGREEMENT CAA-FIA-INJS

THE CONFEDERATION OF AFRICAN ATHLETICS (CAA) SIGNED A TRIPARTITE PROTOCOL AGREEMENT WITH THE IVORIAN ATHLETICS FEDERATION (FIA) AND THE NATIONAL YOUTH AND SPORTS INSTITUTE (INJS) OF ABIDJAN, A STRUCTURE UNDER THE TUTORSHIP OF THE IVORIAN MINISTRY IN CHARGE OF THE PROMOTION OF SPORTS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SPORTS ECONOMY, RELATING TO THE CREATION AND FUNCTIONING OF A SPECIALIZED CENTER IN THE TRAINING OF EXECUTIVES AND ATHLETES.

Abidjan has got its development center

Abidjan has got its African Athletics Development Center (AADC) on Thursday, October 14, 2021, by signing the tripartite agreement between the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), the Ivorian Athletics Federation (FIA) and the national institute of youth and sports (INJS).

Kenyan Omayala makes sprint history

Kenyan Ferdinand Omayala signed a resounding feat by setting a new African record in the 100m in 9''77 at the Kip Keino Classic meeting in Nairobi on Saturday, September 18, 2021. This performance propels the Kenyan sprinter into the Top 10 all time. Omayala, second in the race behind American Trayvon Bomell, wiped South African Akani Simbine from the African shelves (9’84 last July).

Olympic champions set for Kip Keino Classic

A number of Tokyo Olympic medallists, including champions Faith Kipyegon and Peruth Chemutai, will be among the athletes in action at the Kip Keino Classic, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, in Nairobi, Kenya, on 18 September.

Athletes from at least 28 countries are expected to compete when the final meeting of this year’s Continental Tour Gold series is held at the Kasarani Stadium, which recently hosted the World Athletics U20 Championships.

U20 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS REPORT A Rich African harvest: 22 Gold, 15 Silver, 18 Bronze

The World Junior (U20) Athletics Championships, held from August 18 to 22 in Nairobi, Kenya, witnessed the breaking of four U20 world records, 15 championship records, 11 junior continental records, 68 national records of the category and 10 senior national records.

This first world event of World Athletics organized on the African continent, allowed Africa to achieve great performances from sprint to long distance and field events.
