The CAA received in audience by the Prime Minister of Cameroon

The 23rd edition of the African Athletics Championship will take place from June 21 to 26, 2024 in Douala, Cameroon.

The visit on April 16, 2024 of the Executive Office of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) to the Cameroonian Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Nguté, testifies to the importance given to this continental competition. The Organizing Committee took this opportunity to express its gratitude to the CAA for its support and to present some grievances.

These grievances probably related to logistical and organizational aspects of the event, such as the provision of sports infrastructure, the accommodation of athletes and officials, and the safety of participants. Prime Minister Nguté reiterated the Cameroonian government's commitment to making this championship a resounding success and promised to respond favorably to the grievances expressed by the CAA.

Holding the African Athletics Championship in Cameroon is a great opportunity for the country to promote its image on the international scene and develop its sports tourism. It is also an opportunity for Cameroonian athletes to shine on their own soil and qualify for international competitions such as the Olympic Games.
